CMA participates in the 39th IOSCO annual meeting in Brazil

The Sultanate represented in CMA is participating in the 39th IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions) annual meeting hosted by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil, in the city of Rio De Janiero in the period from 27th of September to 2nd of October, 2014. H.E Sheikh Abdullah Al Salmi, Executive President of CMA heads the delegation that also includes Mohammed Said Al Abri, Acting Director of Directorate General of Capital Market Institutions, John Spenser, Economic Expert following H.E’s office and Acting Director of Strategy and Business Development, and Shaima Al Busaidi, Acting Director of International Affairs.

CMA seeks through the participation to address the latest regulative and technical developments in the world in the capital market regulation field especially with the rapid growth witnessed in the global market, and also CMA will be exposed to the nature of directive international standards that convoy with the newcomers and requirements of the current stage.

It is worth to mention that International Organization of Securities Commissions is an international organization consists of global capital markets authorities working together for achieving mutual cooperation to reach high regulatory levels in order to maintain efficiency of international capital markets transactions and exchange information and experiences for supporting the development of local markets. It also aims to build efficient levels of supervision of capital market transactions through firm implementation of regulatory rules against transactions’ violations.
