01 March 2015

The Oman Centre for Governance & Sustainability (OCGS) of the Capital Market Authority  is launching the 4th edition of the  Corporate Governance Excellence Award at the Grand Hayat Hotel on Sunday 1 March under the Patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah Salim Al Salmi, Executive President of CMA and the attendance of the members of the Board of Directors of CMA, MSM, MCDC and representatives of companies from the various sectors.

The significance of corporate governance stems from the fact that effective regulation and sound management of companies are considered fundamental factors in building trust in companies and in the economy at large. Corporate governance aims to enhance the efficiency of companies, most notably listed companies, by promoting principles of transparency, accountability, responsibility and fairness among various parties. Those principles are achieved by adopting, implementing  and complying with regulations pertaining to corporate governance.

The award started in 2010 with wide participation by the public companies listed on the MSM.
