Health Insurance Team Reviews Digital Transformation Project and Medical Coding

Ahmed Ali Al Maamari, Vice President for Insurance Sector at the Capital Market Authority and Chairman of health insurance team emphasized that  the health insurance scheme for the employees of the private sector and visitors to Oman (Dhamani) is preparing for readying all the requirements to implement all the phases of the project for the targeted categories. He added that the preparations are in advanced stages with regard to   legal requirements, digital systems and medical coding aspects of the project.

 

He said that  at the sidelines of the team’s meeting with the participation of the representatives of the  concerned entities such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of labor,  Public Authority for Social Security, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the  Omani Insurance Association to discuss the achievements during the past period and to review the execution of the preparatory projects accompanying the implementation of “Dhamani” .

 

Al Maamari said the compulsory insurance for the employees of the private sector will contribute to creating great changes on the level of the heath and insurance economy with regard to the types of practices and attracting new specializations and investments in the economy.  He added that  the expansion of health insurance would direct the health sector toward enhancing the quality of services through attracting quality specialized institutions and competencies further to improving the quality of the insurance services rendered by insurance companies which would be licensed in accordance with standards and requirements commensurate with the type  of the insurance product which is relevant to the life and the health of the citizens and residents.

 

Dhamani  platform will link between insurance companies, private health institutions, health insurance third party claim administrators and the relevant government entities and is deemed one of the key preparatory steps to develop the Omani health insurance sector through investing in the new technology to facilitate the services rendered to the public as one of the national priorities of Oman Vision o2040. The meeting discussed the execution of the medical coding project based on accurate and comprehensive data to ease the billing process in accordance with international standards. The meeting also discussed the training of the employees dealing with the platform in the public and private sector health institutions and insurance companies
