Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time.
From rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding to shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale. Without drastic action today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly.
The MENA Seminar on Climate Risk Supervision and the Protection Gap, that is organized by the Capital Market Authority - Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare of the kingdom of Morocco, comes in response to the priorities of concern to the Middle East and North Africa region with regard to climate change issues.
The seminar challenges facing the insurance sector supervisors in the Middle East and North Africa, the role of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) to reduce the effects of this issue, in addition to the IAIS roadmap and activities of the Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii), and Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF)
